Our Injury and pain management/ sports therapy treatment is a type of physical therapy that specifically focuses on aiding and preventing injury and on rehabilitation of the patient back to the best possible levels of function. Book this treatment if you are in pain / injury. The hour appointment includes assessment, treatment and rehabilitation exercises

What to expect during your Treatment:
• Initially consultation: Includes; medical history, injury history, occupation, posture assessment, physical assessment.
• Treatment: Could include (depending on injury) massage techniques, ultrasound therapy, mobilisation techniques, Theragun, taping techniques and Acupuncture.
• Rehabilitation: Your therapist will tailor a personal rehabilitation program for you. (You may not receive this in your initial appointment depending on the injury)
• Aftercare advice and discussion on healing time

Sports Massage / Deep Tissue

Sports massage is a type of massage therapy which aims to reduce pain, increase flexibility, aid healing and can prepare athletes for sport. Sports massage is not just for the sporting people, but for anyone! It can help relieve and relax tightened or injured muscles for all different types of people. Techniques such as MET (muscular energy techniques), STR (soft tissue release), myofascial release, frictions and trigger point therapy along with various strokes are used to manipulate the tissues, thus aiding quicker recovery and reduced pain. This treatment is a deep tissue treatment, so expect the massage to be painful, with after effects of sore muscles, tenderness and bruising.

How Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Work

Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage massage works by:

Manual Lympathic Drainage - Vodder Technique

Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment. The massage uses light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase the flow of lymph and reduce toxins in your body. The treatment can be beneficial for people who have had recent surgery

The lymph system is part of your body's immune system and helps fight infection. It transports nutrients and oxygen to cells, collecting toxins on the way and flushing them out through the lymph nodes. The pressure from your blood vessels and movement from your muscles push the lymphatic fluid around.

While the heart continuously pumps blood through the blood vessels, the lymphatic system relies on the movement of smooth muscles to transport fluid through the lymph vessels.

Health conditions can interrupt the normal flow of lymph, causing lymph fluid to build up in a particular areas of the body.

Lymphatic drainage massage can help also with people experiencing:

Dry Cupping

Cupping is a technique used in conjunction with massage therapy, acupuncture and dry needling. Cupping pulls blood to a region to stimulate healing. It is effective at stretching tight fascia and muscles. Cupping helps the tissue develop new blood flow and stimulates the healing process.

Tissue can get knotted, tighten, and scarred, which can limit movement. The use of dry cupping, in likeness with manual massage therapy, can aid these effects by increasing blood supply to the muscle, fascia and skin and increasing pliability of soft tissue.
Dry Cupping pulls blood to an area and the tissue becomes saturated with fresh blood while the vacuum pulls stagnant blood out of the area.

A biproduct of this is round bruising appearance that is typically left behind. The mark may produce a black and blue appearance but it’s rarely painful.
As new blood is forced into the tissues around the cups the body will begin to develop new blood vessels called neovascularisation (new blood vessel formation). As the new vessels form, they will have the capability to feed the tissues with nutrient and oxygen.

Cupping can be beneficial to many muscular-skeletal condition such as; plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, sciatica, shin splints, general muscular tightness, back, neck and shoulder pain and many more.. .

Benefits of cupping:

• Increase in circulation to the muscle, fascia and skin, which increases oxygenation and nutrient levels within the soft tissue.

• Increases the removal of chemical irritants within muscle and fascia and the removal of stagnant blood.

• Increases the removal of oedema after injury.

• Produces a stretch reflex in fascia and connective tissue, which increases mobility at the joint.

• Cupping techniques that include active movement stimulate the nervous system and aid in re-educating muscle memory and proprioception.

• Aids in the management of pain, as cupping therapy reduces muscular tension, nerve compression and irritation through the build-up of chemical irritants, whilst increasing range of movement.

• Works well in conjunction with other therapy such as sports and remedial massage, joint mobilisations and Dry Needling, medical acupuncture, and heat therapy.

I've had 2 Deep tissue massages, one with Abi and the other with Holly. The sessions have helped ease aches and pains I've put up with for years, some in areas I wasn't aware were causing me issues.

A cracking session with Tamsin today. She really had her work cut out this morning. Had a real issue with with right leg quad and hamstring,it was both strained and tight. A quick assessment from Tamsin then she quickly saw the issue and went straight to work. Somehow she managed to get relief into my leg and lower back. Then she gave some rehab exercises and homework as well. The magician does it again back in 6 weeks as normal

Abi is superb at what she does!
I currently can't lay down for my deep tissue back massage, but this does not phase abi and she is still able to deliver the massage with me sitting up giving me great results.
Abi also began work with my injured knee, sharing her knowledge of what is happening to it and how to help moving forward.
I look forward to my next session knowing that both my back and knee will be receiving the care they need!
